When Nutmeg arrived from the UK with my son in October of 2022 I thought I had made a big mistake. She was growling and barking at everyone and everything. My son, Oliver, is not really a dog person and assumed her behaviour was normal. I realize terriers think they are ferocious, but it seemed a bit much coming from a fifteen week old puppy. I just looked at her and thought “once we get you home the gang will put you in your place”. That’s exactly what happened; however, I felt quite bad for Nutmeg because she was treated a bit like Rudolph the red nose reindeer (none of the others wanted to play with her). To compensate for her lack of friends she really bonded with me, and is probably the biggest snuggler we have. Thankfully now that she has settled in she is one of the gang and has become best pals with Ivy (Thistle x Hamish 2022).

Now that Thistle has retired it will be Nutmeg who will start a new line with Hector (Thistle x Hamish 2022). Thistle‘s girls were all named after Scottish plants, so I guess in future I will be manager of the canine “Spice girls”.
